Testosterone for Tuppence

Ah, testosterone. That elusive, lovely hormone that I suffer from a deficiency of (and have recently been prescribed - 5 days on T fuck yeah hell yeah!)

But testosterone, like many things in the FtM world, can be both expensive and hard to get. I'm going to make a post on how to be prescribed testosterone (especially in the Southern Utah/Arizona/Nevada area) soon, but for now I'm going to talk a bit about the thing itself, and once you've been prescribed it, hwo to keep it from draining all your video game money.

Now hopefully, if you're reading this, you've done some research and know testosterone is for you. You might even know the method of testosterone-taking you want to pursue. If not, never fear! I recommend checking out this packet here and Hudson's info here to find out what you can expect & the different methods.

Injection tends to be the cheapest version of T. You get a vial of liquid testosterone, and though it is tempting to just chug that sucker down in the hopes of waking up looking like Gaston -

- you must resist the urge. Alas, you must do something much more manly - stab it into you. If you decide, being broke as I was, that Inject-A-T is the way for you, there's a lovely, life-saving little site you can check to help you drop the price even more:

GOODRX! The site of sites. The oasis in the desert. This site, for whatever reason, will give you coupons that offer sometimes ridiculous discounts on medications - and testosterone brands are in here. You can get discounts on BOTH the injectible brands listed in the CAMH packet I linked to earlier.

Discounts vary from state to state, city to city, and pharmacy to pharmacy, so you'll probably want to do a little research before you talk to your doc so you can say "I want injectable testosterone, and this is the brand I want, because I can get it the cheapest". You may want to bring a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd option just in case your doctor has objections to a particular brand - remember, your health is more important than buying Pillars of Eternity. Only slightly, but it's true. Luckily, one vial of T will last you quite a while, so this won't be a monthly expense.

Depending on your luck, T might still be expensive, especially if you don't have insurance. In that case, really the best advice I can give you is to save, save, save. No matter how many cost-cutting corners you take, cheaper presentation items you buy, or eyelashes you wish on, your transition will still cost money, and to get through it you have to start saving. In fact, there's a post specifically on that to come!
